MEET THE GENERAL DENTISTS

Dr. Malcolm Musiker, DMD
A graduate of Tufts College with a bachelor's degree in biology and psychology (and a minor in the Classics), Dr. Malcolm Musiker earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, topping off his excellent academic record with election to Omicron Kappa Upsilon Academic Honor Society.

The opportunity to complete a combined advanced education program at the Eastman Dental Center and Genesee Hospital lured Dr. Musiker to Rochester from his native Milton, Massachusetts.  His success in the General Practice Residency at Genesee led him to become the first Coordinator of this residency program. He served as a Senior Attending Dentist at the hospital for 24 years. Later, Dr. Musiker also served as the dental director at Westside Health Center. Dr. Stanley Handelman recruited Dr. Musiker to the practice in 1978 with an opportunity to teach and practice in our community.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Musiker recently contributed his expertise to a textbook, Oxford Handbook of Applied Dental Sciences (Oxford Press), which reviews basic science for dental students. He has contributed to numerous articles on dentistry and archaeology.

When he's not in the office, you might find Dr. Musiker in a canoe on Irondequoit Creek, photographing area wildlife or fishing and exploring the Finger Lakes. He is active in the rescue and adoption of retired racing greyhounds, sharing his home with three greyhounds to date.  He and his wife, Judy, have two grown daughters who live in Washington, DC.

Dr. Howard Weiner, DMD
Dr. Howard Weiner earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Pittsburgh, where he had also earned his undergraduate degree in Economics. Born in Baltimore and raised on Long Island, Dr. Weiner passed up his original career choice—kitchen design—in favor of his passion for dentistry. He chose Eastman Dental Center in Rochester for his residency, completing the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program—and remaining at Eastman for ten years to serve on the teaching staff.

While teaching at Eastman, Dr. Weiner extended his skills to the community, treating adult patients in rural areas of New York’s Allegheny County and at the Brown Square Health Center.

In addition to his work at North Coast Dental Group, Dr. Weiner serves on the boards of Pittsford Crew, an organization that supports youth rowing in the greater Rochester area and the Pittsford Indoor Rowing Center. He is an instrument-rated private pilot, serving on the board of the local chapter of the Civil Air Patrol—and standing ready to participate in search and rescue missions as needed by the U.S. Air Force. He and his wife, Sue, have three children—the eldest is in the U.S. Air Force, and the younger two are in college.
